Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) Support

Integrated Therapy for Depression, Anxiety, Trauma, and Burnout

Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) is an evidence-informed approach that combines the medical use of ketamine with structured psychotherapy to support healing when traditional therapy or medication alone has not been enough.

At Origins Counseling & Wellness, PLLC, KAP support focuses on preparation, integration, and long-term therapeutic change. The medication may open the door. Therapy helps you walk through it with intention, safety, and support.

Please note

At Origins, we do not prescribe or administer KAP in any form, but support clients as they go through the treatment with other providers. We work hand-in-hand closely with any medical prescribers to ensure you have the best outcomes possible.

What Is Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy?

Ketamine is a legally prescribed medication that can create temporary shifts in perception, emotional access, and cognitive flexibility. When paired with psychotherapy, these shifts can help clients engage with difficult emotions, memories, and patterns from a new vantage point.

KAP is not talk therapy during a ketamine session. It is a three-phase therapeutic process:

  • Preparation before ketamine treatment
  • Support and intention setting around dosing sessions (coordinated with a medical provider)
  • Integration after sessions to translate insights into meaningful change

Who KAP Support Can Help

Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy support may be helpful for adults experiencing:

  • Treatment-resistant depression
  • Chronic anxiety or panic
  • Trauma and PTSD
  • Emotional numbness or disconnection
  • Burnout and loss of meaning
  • Persistent negative thought patterns
  • Difficulty accessing emotions in traditional therapy

KAP is especially useful for clients who feel “stuck,” despite trying therapy, medication, or lifestyle changes.

Why Therapy Matters in Ketamine Treatment

Ketamine alone can create insight, relief, or emotional openness. Without integration, those experiences may fade or feel confusing.

Psychotherapy helps you:

  • Set clear intentions before ketamine sessions
  • Feel grounded, supported, and more confident during the process
  • Make sense of emotions, memories, or imagery that arise
  • Apply insights to daily life, relationships, and decision-making
  • Build lasting change instead of short-term relief
