We're here to make this easy

Starting therapy brings up real questions about fit, cost and what to expect. Here are answers to the ones we hear most. Still not sure? Reach out and we’ll help you find your way.

Getting Started

How do I book my first appointment?

Select “Schedule your first appointment” or “Book a Consult” to open our secure client portal, then choose the clinician and time that work for you. Prefer to talk first? Call 252-220-0420, text us, or email appointments@originscw.com.

How do I choose the right therapist?

Start with the therapist directory. You can filter by specialty, therapy approach, location, insurance, age range and whether a clinician is accepting new clients, and each profile explains how that clinician works. If you’re unsure, contact us and we’ll help you narrow it down.

Do you offer in-person and online sessions?

Yes. Origins has offices across North Carolina and offers secure telehealth sessions. Session formats and the states each clinician can serve vary, so check the clinician’s profile for their locations and virtual options.

What if my therapist isn’t the right fit?

That’s okay, and it’s more common than you might think. A good fit matters more than almost anything else in therapy. Talk with your therapist about what isn’t working, or contact us and we’ll help you find someone else.

Understanding Costs

Which insurance plans do you accept?

Origins has clinicians who accept Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, CHAMPVA, Cigna, the NC State Health Plan and UnitedHealthcare. Not every clinician takes every plan, so filter the therapist directory by your insurance or check the clinician’s profile. We are not able to accept Medicaid and Medicare plans (including Healthy Blue and the United Healthcare Community Plan), certain BCBS plans (like UNC Health Alliance, Blue Local and Blue Home), or TRICARE at this time.

How do I know what therapy will cost with my insurance?

Your cost depends on your plan: your deductible, copay or coinsurance and network rules all matter. Call the member services number on your insurance card and ask about outpatient mental health benefits before your first appointment.

Can I use out-of-network benefits?

Some plans reimburse part of the cost of out-of-network therapy. If you pay directly, ask about a superbill you can submit to your insurer. Reimbursement isn’t guaranteed, so check your benefits first.

Are self-pay or sliding-scale options available?

Yes. Self-pay is available even if you have insurance, and some clinicians offer a limited number of sliding-scale or reduced-fee appointments. Availability varies, so check the clinician’s profile or contact us for current information.

Ready when you are

Reaching out is the hardest part. Book a consult online or give us a call, and we’ll help you find a therapist who fits your needs, your identity and your schedule.
