HI, I’M LEAH.

I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) for the states of North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, and Vermont. I am not currently accepting new therapy clients, though I do still provide letters for trans affirming therapy as approproate for folks in NC, SC, VT, and FL.

As a CEO and therapist, I have a passion for supporting people who are navigating change in their life and rewriting their stories. Origins Counseling & Wellness began in 2022 as a place for therapists to work and thrive in their job, excel in their field, and find balance at the end of the day. I saw so many of my clients, colleagues, and friends burning out in the field and built Origins to be a workplace that upholds work/life balance and autonomy, because when our therapists are taken care of, so are our clients!

As a team, we strive to provide the best inclusive care for folks in NC of all identities, especially folks living in rural areas of North Carolina. We value education, listening to lived experience, and celebrating our unique identities.

My roles include business management, intern and practicum student supervision, consultation, and trying my best to be a badass boss and colleague.

Wearing my therapist hat, I am especially passionate about serving those in rural areas, having experienced first hand what it was like to be bored in a small town and everything else that accompanies small-town life. I have a special interest in working with individuals in the kink/poly/ethical non-monogamy communities and/or who are LGBQIA+ and trans. I feel strongly about advocating for peoples of all genders, races, and cultural backgrounds. I am actively anti-racist and continuously seek out trainings to recognize my own biases and blind spots.

I often utilize EMDR, mindfulness, and bibliotherapy in my space.

My personal interests include video games (PC and Xbox), all things music, memes, and weird TV. I am a stepmother in a blended family who enjoys the occasional hair color change and a lover of all animals. I travel quite often, my favorite locations (so far) including Portugal, Norway, and Oregon in the US.

I provide online counseling services to individuals with mental, emotional and/or behavioral health concerns as well as substance use disorders and challenges with habit control. Among other mental health concerns, I provide services to help individuals manage the cause and symptoms of depression, anxiety, panic, phobia, conduct/behavioral problems, trauma, grief, and substance use related concerns.

I earned a master’s degree in Clinical Counseling from East Carolina University specializing in Substance Abuse Counseling and Military & Trauma Counseling. Prior to my master’s education, I received a Bachelor’s degree in Religious Studies.
