HI, I’M LACEY.
Do you feel like there’s a hidden force-field pushing you away from people and tasks?
Do you get told that you’re “lazy”, “too sensitive”, or “not trying hard enough”? Maybe you say those things to yourself? My clients are hard working, kind, and driven people that have been weighed down by trauma and unrealistic cultural expectations.
Maybe you have found yourself staring off into space, losing chunks of time and memory. Maybe you get overwhelmed, and overstimulated to the point that you just want to jump out of your skin. Some folks even lose the ability to speak for a couple minutes while they try to calm down enough to communicate. Many of my clients struggle with communication and figuring out what their bosses/professors/friends/family need or want from them. Clients also tell me that they go from “0 to 100” when unexpected loud noises happen, or their schedule has to change for an unknown reason.
I believe life is not a pain olympics. No matter how “big” or “small” the pain, we all deserve to be heard and taken seriously. I specialize in working with people who have experienced chronic long term traumas such as unmet childhood needs and the ostracism of being Autistic or having ADHD in an ableist society. I am very comfortable working with DID and other dissociative disorders.
I specialize in working with people who have experienced chronic long term traumas such as the microaggressions (and macro!) that occur during the immigration and naturalization process, the ostracism of being Autistic or having ADHD in an ableist society, and unmet childhood needs. I am very comfortable working with DID and other dissociative disorders.
I am an LCSW who has been practicing since 2018. I graduated from North Carolina State University with both my Masters and Bachelors of Social Work. I most prefer using the therapy modalities of Ego State Therapy, Somatic Experiencing, EMDR, and aspects of Internal Family Systems (IFS). Most of my clients begin therapy with grounding and coping skills from a body-based perspective, but occasionally cognitive is appropriate. We will never engage in something you are not ready for, and you will be the one to determine if you are ready.
In my free time I enjoy proof-reading works of science-fiction/fantasy, crocheting with alpaca yarn, and engaging with long-play/letsplay communities on Twitch and Youtube. While I was raised on the video games of Sonic, Mario, Animal Crossing, and Ratchet and Clank, these days I skew more towards the ever evolving world of Indie Games.
I am available to help determine if you are Autistic or you have Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. For more information, please see: https://originscounselingandwellness.com/adult-adhd-and-autism-assessments/
Lastly, I am a member of Ego State Therapy North America (ESTNA), which is a community of mental health professionals passionate about Ego State Therapy (EST) with a mission of creating public awareness of this effective approach, furthering and expanding EST education, and providing a directory of trained EST clinicians.
