Therapy for When You're Tired of Holding It All Together

Maybe you’re the person everyone relies on when things fall apart: the fixer, the responsible one, the person who always says, “I’ve got it.” But underneath that competence, you may be anxious, overwhelmed, burned out, or wondering how long you can keep running on fumes.

Ellis works with teens, adults, and couples navigating anxiety, ADHD, autism, trauma, perfectionism, people-pleasing, relationship concerns, identity, and major life transitions. Their practice is especially affirming for LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent clients, as well as people exploring gender, sexuality, kink, and consensual non-monogamy.

Therapy with Ellis isn’t about turning you into another project to fix. It’s a place to understand what’s actually happening beneath the coping strategies, expectations, and survival patterns, and build a life that works better for the person you actually are.

Approaches I use

My Approach to Therapy

Ellis’s style is warm, collaborative, trauma-informed, direct, and comfortably human. They aren’t interested in telling you what’s wrong with you. Instead, therapy focuses on understanding your strengths, values, relationships, nervous system, and the patterns you’ve developed to get through life, including the ones that aren’t working anymore.

Depending on what you need, Ellis draws from the Gottman Method, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), attachment-based approaches, somatic therapy, and trauma-informed care.

For couples and relationship work, Ellis supports clients with communication, recurring conflict, trust, intimacy, infidelity, mismatched desire, and feeling stuck in the same patterns. Their approach is explicitly affirming of LGBTQIA+ relationships, kink, and consensual non-monogamy. Your relationship doesn’t need to fit a traditional mold to be taken seriously here.

With nearly 20 years of experience, Ellis brings both clinical knowledge and lived understanding to the room. You don’t need to arrive with everything figured out. You can show up as you are, and start there.

"Everyone depends on me to keep it together, but I'm exhausted. I'm overthinking everything, trying to keep everyone happy, and starting to wonder when I get to stop performing like I'm fine."

A Little About Ellis

Ellis is a queer, non-binary, neurodivergent therapist who brings lived experience into the way they understand identity, relationships, neurodivergence, and the pressure to fit expectations that were never designed for everyone.

That perspective shapes a practice where LGBTQIA+ clients, neurodivergent people, women, couples, and people exploring gender, sexuality, kink, or non-monogamy don’t have to spend half the session explaining why their experiences matter. Ellis values authenticity, humor, curiosity, and therapy that makes room for the complicated reality of being a person.

Nearly two decades into the work, Ellis still loves helping people move out of survival mode and toward stronger connections with themselves, their relationships, and the lives they actually want to live.
