Kink-Affirming Care

Nonjudgmental therapy for kink and BDSM practitioners. Affirming care from Origins clinicians in North Carolina and online.

  • In person across North Carolina and online

Kink and BDSM are consensual practices that many people are afraid to mention in therapy. Fear of being judged, pathologized or misunderstood can keep people from getting help with things that have nothing to do with kink at all.

Our kink-affirming clinicians do not treat consensual kink as a symptom. You can talk about relationships, desire, trauma or anything else with someone who understands consent, negotiation and the difference between kink and abuse.

Common questions

Will a kink-affirming therapist try to change my interests?

No. Consensual kink is not considered a mental illness, and affirming clinicians focus on your wellbeing and goals rather than trying to change what you enjoy.

Do I have to bring up kink to work with this therapist?

Only if you want to. You can seek support for any concern and share as much or as little as feels right.
