Approaches I use
My Approach to Therapy
Amy is collaborative and interactive. She wants to know what you’ve already done to heal, your worldview, your identities and what they mean to you, and then you work through things together. She welcomes feedback and questions, and places enormous value on building and keeping your trust.
She helps clients get curious about their thoughts and reactions, notice when unhelpful judgments show up, and unpack the societal messages that have contributed to feeling othered. Together you look at what matters most to you and what stands between you and more of it. Her goal is for you to grow the part of yourself that is consistently compassionate toward you, and to find steady ground under your feet.
Amy draws from evidence-based, trauma-informed approaches, including:
- EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)
- Brainspotting
- Somatic therapy and somatically informed parts work
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
- Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
- Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples
- LGBTQIA+ celebratory, neurodivergent-affirming, and poly and nontraditional relationship celebratory care
