Therapy for When You Know What to Do but Can't Make Yourself Do It
You know the thing needs to get done. You may even know exactly how to do it. But somehow you’re still staring at it, avoiding it, thinking about it, feeling guilty about not doing it, and wondering why everyone else seems better at this whole adulting thing.
Maybe you’re caught in cycles of procrastination, overwhelm, perfectionism, or fear of failure. Starting tasks feels impossible, responsibilities pile up faster than you can organize them, and the harder you criticize yourself, the more stuck you become.
Madison works with adults navigating ADHD, autism, executive dysfunction, OCD, anxiety, depression, trauma, perfectionism, and the exhaustion of trying to force themselves through life with strategies that don’t fit how their brains actually work.
Therapy isn’t about turning you into someone who’s better at pushing through. It’s about understanding what’s underneath the avoidance, finding approaches that work with your brain instead of against it, and rebuilding confidence in your ability to make choices and move forward.

My Approach to Therapy
Madison’s approach is collaborative, individualized, neurodivergent-affirming, LGBTQIA+-affirming, and grounded in self-compassion. She doesn’t believe therapy should be another place where you’re told to try harder, be more disciplined, or shame yourself into functioning differently.
Instead, you’ll look at what is actually getting in the way. That may include executive dysfunction, anxiety, intrusive thoughts, perfectionism, fear of failure, trauma, avoidance, or years of trying to meet expectations that don’t fit you.
Depending on your needs, Madison draws from Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (I-CBT), EMDR, Brainspotting, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Person-Centered Therapy.
The goal is both practical and personal: develop strategies that make daily life more manageable while building more self-understanding, motivation, autonomy, and compassion for the person doing the work.
Sessions are fully virtual, which means you can do this work from your own space: comfy pants, pets, unfinished to-do lists, and all.
"I know what I need to do, so why can't I just make myself do it? I'm exhausted from procrastinating, getting overwhelmed, and then beating myself up because I feel like I should be able to handle all of this."

A Little About Madison
Madison earned both her Bachelor of Social Work and Master of Social Work from the University of North Carolina Wilmington. She entered the mental health field in 2020 and began providing outpatient telehealth therapy in 2021.
Before focusing on her current work with adults, Madison gained experience in community mental health and child and family therapeutic services. Her clinical interests now center on neurodivergence, executive functioning, OCD, trauma, perfectionism, anxiety, depression, self-compassion, motivation, and helping clients develop greater autonomy in their lives.
As a bi member of the LGBTQIA+ community, Madison values creating therapy where clients’ identities and intersections are welcomed rather than merely tolerated.
Outside of work, she enjoys yoga, botanical Lego sets, rainbow-colored puzzles, comfortable pants, and the occasional dog cameo during telehealth sessions. Client pets are welcome too.
